What is BAKKAL?
BAKKAL is an application that delivers your ethnic grocery essentials from the store of your choice in your neighborhood directly to your doorstep. We bring the tastes you have been missing out on from local stores and goods you can’t find in chain stores and other delivery apps. BAKKAL aims to support small local businesses and introduce ethnic foods to all individuals.
How BAKKAL app works?
You will be connected to your local ethnic groceries in your district through the BAKKAL app seamlessly.
- Download BAKKAL app on your mobile
- Register or Log in
- Enter your zip code and view nearby ethnic grocery stores & select one
- Use the search bar or view items or scroll offers, trends, categories in multiple languages;
- Choose and add them to the cart.
- You can communicate with the store in real-time about preferences through mutually masked phone numbers.
- Go to check out. Choose your delivery method: Self-pick up / normal delivery / contactless delivery.
- Enter your payment information and confirm.
- Track your delivery in real-time through the app.
- Your grocery will be delivered to your door.
- And you will get a notification of your completed order.
- If contactless delivery is chosen, you will receive a confirmation photo of delivered items at your door.
How can I pay?
We accept all major credit and debit cards. We also accept payments through BAKKAL WALLET™. BAKKAL WALLET™ is an internal payment system available to our users. BAKKAL WALLET™ enables our users to use funds from their wallet and transfer it to other users when available.
Is my information secure?
Yes, it is secure. We do not store your credit/debit card information on our servers. Your payment is processed through our payment partner and the industry leader, Stripe Payment Gateway systems. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry.
What type of products can I buy?
You can choose from special flavors of Middle Eastern, Halal, Kosher, Eastern European, Asian, and Indian grocery stores. Including categories; Beans and Lentils, Beverages, Canned Foods, Grains, Snacks and Dried Fruits, Pickles, Chutneys, Pastes, Salt and Spices, Tea and Coffee, Sweets, Frozen, Oils, Butter and Ghee, Eggs and Dairy, Bread, Quick Staples, Deli and Pre-packed Cut Meat, International Specialities and many more. We will be regularly introducing new items to meet the demands of our customers.
Can I search for items in a language other than English?
Yes, you can use the search bar or view items or scroll offers, trends, categories in 10 languages; Arabic, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Indian, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Turkish.
Where do you deliver?
Bakkal just started delivering ethnic foods in San Francisco and Los Angeles in selected areas only. Just enter your zip code into the application to check if we are already available in your area.
What are Bakkal’s delivery hours?
Our delivery hours are between 10 AM – 6 PM Pacific Standard Time.
What happens if I place an order after 6 PM?
All the orders placed after 6 PM will be delivered on next day after 10 AM.
Is there a pick-up option from the store?
Yes, you can either choose Pick-up or Delivery.
What happens if there is an out-of-stock item in my order?
If there is an out-of-stock item, the store will try to reach you through the Bakkal app. If there is an acceptable replacement item, it will be added to your order. If you do not want to have a replacement item, our system will credit your wallet for the missing item immediately. If you wish to cash out your wallet amount, please contact our support and we will issue a check for you.
How are my groceries being packed?
Your order will be packed by the store, following standard safety practices.
When can I order?
You can place your order within your selected ethnic store working hours. If your order is received around store closing time, it will be delivered the next morning. You can check the shopping hours of the stores from the BAKKAL application.
Can I schedule an order?
Yes, you can. We do our best to satisfy your needs. You have multiple options. You can set your delivery preferences on the Checkout page; our delivery agent will attempt to deliver your order based on your preferences. If you don’t see your preferred option, please contact our support team over the Live Chat option under your Profile. Our specialist will help you place your order online, and our support team will make sure to schedule your order based on your preferences.
Is there a minimum order for BAKKAL?
There is NO minimum order for BAKKAL. The standard delivery fee will be applied to your order.
How much is the delivery fee?
Hooray, it’s free! We offer free delivery for all orders.
Tipping is optional but it is a good way to show your appreciation for their service.
Do you have senior services?

Can I have my order delivered to a different address?
Yes, you can. You can either predefine delivery locations on your Profile and save them under your Favorite Locations or add a new Delivery Address during the Checkout.
How do I contact my delivery driver and store?
For your privacy, you can communicate with the store and your delivery in real-time about your preferences through BAKKAL app through mutually masked phone numbers.
Can I track my delivery?
Yes, you can track your delivery driver in real-time from store to door and know exactly when your order will arrive.
Can I get contactless delivery?
Yes, you can get contactless delivery if you choose so in check out. Your order will be left at the door. We will notify you when your order arrives. For confirmation, a photo of delivered grocery items at your door will be sent to you.
What happens if there is an issue with my order?
When you report a problem such as missing items, incorrect items, damaged items, you will get an immediate resolution option through the BAKKAL app support / live chat.
What to do if unavailable to receive the delivery?
If you are unavailable to receive your delivery, please set your Delivery Preference to Contactless Delivery. Your delivery agents will leave your package outside the door and send a confirmation photo to your account.
Do you have special offers and promotions?
We will frequently have special offers and promotions to make your shopping experience more fruitful.
Do you have refer-a-friend campaigns?
Yes. You can also get an extra discount on your purchases by referring us to your family members and friends.
Can I give delivery feedback and an overall service review?
Yes, we encourage you to leave the delivery and store feedback since it will help us to improve our service.
Can I suggest a product?
We’d love to hear your feedback! We would be happy to assist our merchant partners in adding new products to their offerings.

How do I delete my account?
You can request removal of your personal information at any time by filling out the form here. After user information is validated, the requested account will be deleted in 30 days.
